Backpack Program
Nutritional snacks and supplemental food items are sent home with families each weekend. It is available to any family in need and an application must be completed.
Big Buddy/Little Buddy Program
This program is designed for students in grades 1-3 who would benefit from weekly contact with a high school student who serves as a positive role model. The program is limited to a set number of students in each of our elementary schools and are selected at the start of the school year.
Caring and Sharing Program
This confidential program is available for families in need and offers assistance in the month of December for the holiday season. Please contact your child’s school counselor in the beginning of October should you be a family in need or a family who would like to assist one of our families. Please note that if you reach out at a later time, there may not be resources available. If your family has additional needs at any point in the school year, please reach out to your child’s school counselor for resources that can assist you.
Classroom Lessons
Lessons occur in your child's classroom throughout the school year on a variety of different topics which include social skills, problem solving skills, coping skills, and bullying. Second grade students will also receive a lesson on the topic of careers.
Kids' Group
Kids' Group is a small support group (approx. 4-6 students) that helps students learn a variety of different skills, depending on their need. Topics may include, but are not limited to: social skills, coping skills, family changes, friendship skills, self-esteem, self-control, confidence, and feelings expression—just to name a few! The small group dynamic also allows students to share feelings and experiences with their peers. This helps students to realize that other peers may have had similar feelings and experiences as well, which can be comforting. In addition, many students develop new friendships along the way!
School-Based Therapy
PCBH (Pennsylvania Comprehensive Behavioral Health) offers therapeutic counseling to students in need. Sessions can occur during the school day or at their office. The sessions are billed through your insurance. A referral form and release of information are required. If you are interested in this service, please contact your child’s school counselor.
