Academic Intervention Specialist

What is Academic Intervention?

It is a team process designed to identify students who are experiencing academic difficulties.  The process provides students with the support necessary to experience success.

Process:

  • Identify the student’s need for academic help
  • Develop strategies to assist the student
  •  Implement intervention strategies and monitor progress

If the student’s needs cannot be met in a regular classroom, the child is then referred for further evaluation and assistance.

Team Members Include:

  • Intervention Teacher
  •  Parents/guardian
  • Classroom teacher
  • Principal
  • Other staff members such as:  counselor, reading teacher, speech teacher, nurse, school psychologist
