below are descriptions of the various committees of the Ore Valley PTO.
This is provided to you not only as a source of information, but also
as a way for you to volunteer to help throughout the year on these
various committees. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in participating in any of the listed committees. HELP IS ALWAYS WELCOME AND NEEDED. THANK-YOU!
Committee Description
Art Room/Art Show:
No
artistic talent needed. Helps in the art room and assists in displaying
students’ art for show in May. Help can be used throughout the year in
the art room if this is where your talents are! Help especially
requested in May. Requires MANY volunteers. Hours to help: before and
after school, evenings, daytime. Whenever you can! 2nd VP chairs the Art Show event.
Book Fair:
Chairperson: Rachel Papp, Sarah Hostler
Help
to set up, tear down, or work during book fair hours to ring up sales
and assist buyers with book selection. Book fairs usually run for one
week in November and May. For the book lover in you! Hours to help:
Daytime and evenings.
Campbell’s Soup Labels/General Mills Box Tops:
Chairperson: Erica Cerutti
Collect
soup labels and box tops from teacher’s classroom once a month, take
them home, clip and put them in a zip lock bag then return them to
school and put in label bin in the office. Now that’s easy! Hours to
help: anytime, clipping done at home.
Hospitality Committee:
Chairperson: OV PTO Board
Help
with the preparation and serving of meals to teachers during
conferences in November and February. The Teachers are at the school all
day non-stop through the evening – a great way to show our
appreciation! Simple and tasty! Coordinating food/donations for staff
appreciation week. Helping teachers when needed in their classrooms.
Spreading good cheer!
Please indicate which grade you are interested in helping with. Many parent volunteers are needed for each activity. Co- chairs are needed for each activity. Hours to help: as needed to coordinate and help at event.
Holiday Shop:
Chairperson: Jen Smitka
Help
with the set-up, act as shopper assistant, and clean-up of holiday
shop. Held in December. Great holiday giving activity. Takes many
volunteers (elves!). Hours to help: Friday Evening and Saturday Morning. Co-chairs welcome!
May Day:
Chairperson: Sarah Hostler
Help
with the organization, set-up, staffing, and clean-up of this spring
event. Event includes rides, games, auction, food, book sale, raffles,
etc. Requires approximately 200 volunteers day of event. Always need committee Co-chairs!
We are in need of volunteers to coordinate this exciting Ore Valley
event. Organizational skills. Delegating. Hours to help: days, evenings,
day of event.
Membership:
Chairperson: PTO Board
Help establish and implement a membership drive to get families more involved with PTO. Hours to help: mostly evening. Fall.
Newsletter:
Chairperson:
Help
with the copying and distribution of PTO’s monthly newsletter, Cat
Tales. Hours to help: Usually daytime – one day each month.
Photography/Memory Book:
Chairperson: Sarah Hostler
Picture
perfect! Help to photograph student events and school activities.
Organizational skills. Must use a good 35 mm or digital camera. Hours to
help: daytime, evening.
Fundraiser: Fall Fundraiser/Dance A Thon
Chairperson: Sarah Hostler
Distribute
flyers, count orders, organize and distribute products. Ore Valley
holds 2 major fundraisers each year -- one Fall and one Spring. Hours to
help: daytime and some evening. Many parent volunteers needed.
School Spirit/ T-Shirt Sale:
Chairperson: OV PTO Board/Sarah Hostler
Help
with the selection, sale, and distribution of school spirit
merchandise. This sale is NOT a fundraiser. Sales are in the Fall/Spring
and during May Fair. Hours to help: some daytime and at May Fair.
Web Site:
Chairperson: PTO Board
Posts minutes, Cat Tales, monthly events and student work to the Dallastown Area School District's Web Site (www.dallastown.net).
Works with the PTO President with regards to posting information
relevant to Ore Valley PTO. A Computer and basic computer knowledge
necessary. Hours to help: evenings at convenience.
